Corsets have been gaining momentum the last few seasons, there are the lace up variations, ones that have an under wire cut out, and then there are more tailored options like this one with a zip at the back.
However, I completely understand that corsets are polarising. Scaring off many with the fear of being uncomfortable and tricky to style. The easiest way to look at them is as a large waist belt, and I definitely recommend taking your normal size rather than going down. We’re not endorsing any kind of body mutilation here, rather a way to play with proportions and layering.
Layer over a shirt.

One of my favourite looks with a corset, as I like that the shirt comes out the bottom.
2. Layer over a Jumper.
Wearing: Double Trouble Gang lighning jumper, Georgia Alice corset, J Brand cropped leather pants
This is a great way to transform the shape of a puffy jumper or sweatshirt, as you’ll still have all the bagginess in the shoulders and arms but have a cinched in waist making the proportions look even more dramatic.
I personally like to see the jumper come out the bottom of the corset for that little extra length and layered look.
3. Layer over a blazer

This is great way to wear your blazer as a top, as the corset holds it all together for a chic tailored look.
