IN MY BAG: MBFWA

Posted on April 7th, 2013

Sydney Fashion Week kicks off tomorrow and I'm currently getting myself organised for Day 1! Here is an insight into whats going to be in my bag tomorrow.

Bag of choice: Christopher Kane leather embossed clutch. I'm going to be running between the office and shows this week so no need to lug my life around with me, but I do make sure to pack the essentials to keep me fresh faced and organised.

Smythson notebook, Winston and Wolfe card holder, Chanel Chance perfume, Clarins beauty flash balm, YSL touche éclat , Dior gel coat nailpolish, super sunglasses.

BEAUTY NOTE: BARE IT

Grown Alchemy lip balm, OPI nailpolish in Bubble Bath
Lover lace dress, Claire Aristides bracelet.

This summer I've decided to ditch the foundation. I work in an office all day and in the end it's barely on my face anyway, as well as with the humid weather we've had I would rather be bare than risk it clogging up my pores. Don't get me wrong, I love makeup and admit there was a time I could never leave the house without it due to having terrible acne in my teens. But since those days are behind me (amen to that!) I'm putting more effort into highlighting my other features and letting my skin take a nice big breath!

So what do I do instead? I make sure my brows are nicely filled in and sweep on some liquid eyeliner, currently using Stilla which I'm really liking, and of course a coat or two of mascara. To keep the dewy natural look going a little bit of lip balm goes a long with with Grown Alchemy in a yummy watermelon flavour.

Friday Insta Wrap Up

Posted on November 16th, 2012

I kind of love how Instagram can easily wrap up my week, not too much went on (the usual work, home, sleep, work) but hey, it wasn't so shabby!

And its so nice that Insta is now (sort of) online. So all those that don't have iPhones can also have a look at what's going on. View mine here.

Hope you have an amazing weekend xx

Harper and Harley Hair Guide #1

Posted on June 24th, 2012

One of the most common questions I get asked is about my hair, so I thought I'd try to give an insight into what I know and have learnt along the way (keeping in mind I am not a hairdresser or have any training on the matter).

I had my first balayage colour done about 4 years ago and have had it re-done perhaps 4-5 times since then. The most important things i've learnt are...

1) Ask for it to be SUBTLE! You don't actually want for it to look look like a serious case of the re-growth monster. The colour needs to fade into your natural root colour so you can't really tell when the lighter colour has begun.

2) Because the ends of the hair have been lightened they're going to get dry and suffer from split ends. Work a treatment through such as Moroccan Oil and get a trim every couple of months. Having long gorgeous hair is a waste of time if the last 10cm is dead.

3) If you're a brunette like me I hate it when the ends get brassy, so make sure you use a colour stay shampoo and conditioner to keep it looking it's best for longer.
