Another Macgraw and leather jacket moment... these girls seriously know how to make a perfectly fitted dress!
You may recall me wearing another Macgraw dress earlier this year during fashion week, which I find myself consistently turning when in need of a little confidence boost. Its amazing how good a well fitted dress can make you feel.
If you haven't gotten the memo, tartan/plaid/check (whatever you would like to call it) is big news right now. I don't jump on every trend that passes me by and I certainly don't have many exceptions to my black, white and grey rule but checks and tartan are in the same boat as stripes in my eyes so I can splash a little red, green or blue checks around without feeling like i've lost the plot.
CAUTION: You're walking a fine line not to look like you're going to a fancy dress party as a school girl or about to go join your mates at the lumber yard, so here's a tip! Avoid the cliches. For example, DO NOT team a plaid skirt with white high socks and you may want to avoid wearing a red check shirt with blue jeans... just saying!
If you need some inspiration on how to do this trend right, then check out the post the lovely Mandy at Oracle Fox has kindly put together.
Here are a few 'in store now' options for you to cast your eyes on to see if this is something you may want to incorporate into your look.
This two pieces from ASOS might have seemed a little preppy, but after some minor styling adjustments and Ureka! it's one of my favourite looks for spring. Not blessed with super long limbs its all about creating the illusion by tying jackets around my waist to extend my legs. Combine that with my morning stretches at yoga and hey presto, I fooled you all!
Here I go again with lecturing you about wardrobe staples, do you have a black silk shirt? Do you? DO YOU???? I dont think there is an event, location or occasion where you wouldn't be able to wear it. That says a lot...
