J Brand Leather pants, Topshop cross over black top, Witchery knit, Oroton umbrella, Windsor Smith boots, Michael Kors rose gold watch.

This week I'm going to focus on leather and the key pieces that you need in your wardrobe. Trust me, these are worth the investment and because of their durable material they will or should last you 5-10 years! Just think about that cost per wear... amazing.

Oh and before I go any further, I'm talking about black leather. Any other colour does not fit under the umbrella of essentials, as much as you can try and justify it to yourself!

First up is the leather pants or leggings, I wear mine pretty much every second day! Also, I know you might be thinking that you can only wear these guys in winter, not true! In Sydney I can wear mine for a good 9 months out of the year, only in the really hot months do a recommend going for some other options.

I've found a few choices under a couple of different price brackets for your browsing.

under $500: Asos under $1000: Alice and Olivia under $1200: Helmut Lang

Asos black mesh dress (also comes in white), Asos Khaki jacket

Something that has definitely added value to my wardrobe is a casual khaki jacket. One that can be pulled tight to give a slight waist and which length is long enough to hang over the hips is the ideal shape for me. I'm also glad this one doesn't have a hoodie, as sometimes hoodies aren't really acceptable. Although, I will admit that if its raining then an easily assessable head covering does come in handy!

I've also mentioned in the past how I really wanted a black mesh hemmed dress. Well here it is and for an absolute steal. I'm going to be honest and let you know I got a little scissor happy with this number and cut off the sleeves. Too many 80's themed parties have ruined this for me but hey it might not have the same affect on you!
