Autumn has crashed down on us here in Sydney and with it the temperatures have very quickly dropped, I think its so funny how accurate the timing can be! Now that summer is behind us we have to quickly start prepping for the next 6 months. I’ve made a promise to myself that instead of buying random things here and there I must first work out what exactly my wardrobe is missing and save up to purchase them first. When you start to pull it apart you only really need a few pieces, and then everything else works in perfectly around them. So here are my six suggestions (which you will see is mainly filled with leather) of what you should have in your Autumn/Winter wardrobe!
1. Black Leather Jacket
My ultimate favourite and this is the one I ended up investing in is the Proenza Schouler biker jacket (pictured). However I’ve found a few other options for you! J Brand Aiah biker jacket is also gorgeous, and the Acne Rita is a very popular choice with it being sold it in many places. However, if you’re looking for something under the $800 mark then this Topshop leather jacket is definitely a find!
2. A chunky knit
The knit is one of those pieces where I have a little bit of fun and maybe even inject a bit of colour to my black, white and grey canvas. I lived in my long line green Acne knit last winter and will do so again this time around, although now i’m also thinking about adding this off white 3/4 sleeve version of the same knit to the mix. Topshop also do a great array of knits (pictured) and especially if you do want to get a few of them at once.
3. Long Sleeve Silk Shirt
Nothing beats an Equipment silk shirt! They look so nice with leather pants and are super chic tucked in to white jeans with belt. I just added this khaki colour to my collection, which was a long time coming! So glad I finally have him.
4. Black Leather or Coated Pants
I don’t know what I would do during winter without my leather leggings from Zara I picked up (I think last year?) for a total steal or a pair of black coated jeans. I truly believe you need at least one of these pieces and the waxed or coated style is a great option if you don’t do leather or if they’re out of your price range. Shopbop have a lovely pair of J Brand black leather pants as well as the waxed or coated version for only a quarter of the price.
5. White Jeans
Its the perfect jean to break up all the black going on. It also looks amazing with the black leather jacket as it can be a little OTT to be wearing leather on leather. I’ve fallen for these distress white skinny J Brand ones, however I currently have the plain whites (pictured) which are a great basic.
6. Black Ankle Boot
So the thing with ankle boots in winter is that you want the top bit to be long enough so there is no gap between the hem of the pants and the boot. Otherwise you have that awkward bit of skin or sock showing and it also ruins the streamline affect you want. A classic with a sneaky hardware heel are these Alexander Wangs (pictured). You could be wearing the most basic outfit and these guys would pick it right up with just that flicker of silver. Otherwise, if you want the same look but not fussed on the hardware, then these Topshop Pamela are for you!
