Ladies & Lamposts

Posted on June 29th, 2012

One of the funnier titles of a collection i've heard 'Ladies don't lean against lamposts' is Friend of Mine's Spring collection that hits stores and online July 9.

That's really soon!

Let's just say I got a little excited. The brand's renowned high slits, cut away hems and clean colour ways are all there (we wouldn't have it any other way!) but the collection has definitely evolved and offers perfect additions to a loyal FOM wardrobe.

happy ever after

Lover blazer, Country Road plain white tee, Zara skirt, Boutique 9 heels, Nick Campbell sunglasses in tortoise shell, Jordan Askill heart ring, Meadowlark cat ear ring.

I went a little pink/blush/pastel crazy, but I love it!

I've actually just gotten home from a night at the brand new Vera Wang store opening in Sydney, where Margaret and I played with couture, ate wedding cake and drank champagne while cheers-ing to love and happy ever afters. So, looking at all this pink while slowly coming off my sugar high seems like perfect timing.

Harper and Harley Hair Guide #1

Posted on June 24th, 2012

One of the most common questions I get asked is about my hair, so I thought I'd try to give an insight into what I know and have learnt along the way (keeping in mind I am not a hairdresser or have any training on the matter).

I had my first balayage colour done about 4 years ago and have had it re-done perhaps 4-5 times since then. The most important things i've learnt are...

1) Ask for it to be SUBTLE! You don't actually want for it to look look like a serious case of the re-growth monster. The colour needs to fade into your natural root colour so you can't really tell when the lighter colour has begun.

2) Because the ends of the hair have been lightened they're going to get dry and suffer from split ends. Work a treatment through such as Moroccan Oil and get a trim every couple of months. Having long gorgeous hair is a waste of time if the last 10cm is dead.

3) If you're a brunette like me I hate it when the ends get brassy, so make sure you use a colour stay shampoo and conditioner to keep it looking it's best for longer.
